Navigating Your Raw Data

The raw data provided by 23andMe has undergone a general quality review however only a subset of markers have been individually validated for accuracy. The data from 23andMe’s Browse Raw Data feature is suitable only for informational use and not for medical, diagnostic or other use. Consult with a healthcare professional before making any major lifestyle changes.

You can access your raw genetic data in your 23andMe account. Using the Browse Raw Data feature, you can view or download your data at anytime in its raw, uninterpreted format (your A’s, T’s, G’s, and C’s).

The DNA in your genome is organized into 22 pairs of chromosomes, a pair of sex chromosomes (two X, or an X and a Y), and your mitochondrial DNA. The main view of Browse Raw Data shows a pictorial display of each chromosome.

There are two ways to navigate the Browse Raw Data feature:

1. You can type the name of a gene or SNP rsid# into the search box; the viewer will display your data at the specified location.

2. You can click on a chromosome to view the associated SNP (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism) data. When the viewer is zoomed in on a chromosome, the viewer will indicate:

• If you are viewing a gene or between genes
• The SNPs positioned nearby
• Your data at the listed SNPs
